“French” omelette

Or a “rolled omelette”, which is said a lot in Andalusia.

And that comes to be the same: One, two or, for those who have more appetite, three wisked eggs in a frying pan and, once they are cooked, rolled up.

There are people who add cheese, tomato, spinach … the sky is the limit ! but the classic is only eggs. Nothing else.

Welcome to Cádiz Experiences

Hello! My name is Leticia, and I welcome you to Cadiz experiences.

I am the creator of this project and the person who will guide you both virtually and physically. But I am not alone, beside me there are magnificent people who make it possible for “Cadiz experiences” to take shape.

Cádiz, a city of 3000 years old

Cádiz is the oldest city of the Western world that has been constantly inhabited since the time of the Phoenicians. More than 3000 years ago.

Originally it was part of an archipelago of three islands: Erytheia, Cotinussa and Antipolis. Over the years and geological evolution, the islands were transformed to what we know today as Cádiz, Puerto Real and San Fernando.

Sherry Wines

First of all,  I would like to clarify that the Sherry Wines are not wines that are only produced in Jerez de la Frontera. They are wines that are born and grow in the valley of the Guadalquivir river, lashed by the winds of Levante and Poniente, and bathed in the Cádiz sun. They are called Sherry Wines since everything started there and that is their Certificate of Origin (D.O).

Cádiz and La Habana

Have you ever heard the phrase “Havana is Cádiz with more black people, Cádiz is Havana with more pizzazz” ?. It is part of the poem by Antonio Burgos. He wrote it in 1984 and Carlos Cano wrote the Music. A declaration of love to Cádiz. A beautiful Habanera song. Here I leave you a version sung by various choirs of the Cádiz Carnival. Although my favorite is, without a doubt, with the voice of María Dolores Pradera.

The flamboyant Cádiz

If you haven’t heard it, I’ll tell you. Cádiz is famous for having “a lot of fairys”

And I won’t telling you it’s a lie, or it’s true. Because, apart from the fact that the phrase is full of hate and ignorance, the truth is, what does it matter if it is so?

Likewise, I find it curious to tell you the reason for this fame that Cádiz has. As in all stories and legends, there are a of true and a part of fiction. I will tell you certain versions, the majority without historical basis but wonderful because they demonstrate how modern and transgressive Cádiz has always been, a port of the sea and the cradle of freedom.

With the bombs thrown by the braggarts …

If we are proudly boast about anything in this city, is the victory over the French when they tried to besiege it in 1810. Although they did not make it easy for us. They spent 2 years camped, surrounding the cities of Cádiz and San Fernando, bombing an overcrowded city due to war refugees from all over Spain.

Tapa History

There are many stories and legends about the origin and geolocation of the first Tapa.

Some people say that the idea came from King Alfonso X (who was nicknamed “El Sabio” for some reason) who recommended that, to avoid and even cure diseases, you should drink small sips of wine; as well as to mitigate the effects of alcohol, you should eat something small. The king ordered that all the inns serve the wine like this. Although it was not called “Tapa”, nor did it spread as a culture in ancient Castilla in the 13th century.
